Open Your Heart ideas

From Jim via text:
“Think we could have a big sweeping strings line in the chorus. Full on ‘everything must go’ string epic euphoria! Also…maybe it could be a [DELETED].”

I like the idea of that. It definitely needs something to make it a stand-out track. Unfortunately, because of the looped chords, it requires extra things to hold interest. I had the thought of stealing some other chords from one of our reject tunes - I have a wealth of them! - for a mid-section, like Cloud7. Not sure though; what do you chaps think?

On the subject of [DELETED], we were going to add [DELETED] to the bridge of Contradiction, just to make it even darker. Is that still on the cards?

This isn’t so much a blog post, more a series of questions. Sorry about that!

Rob.

They don’t make ‘em like they used to.

I used to write loads of tunes on this little beauty! Mostly when I couldn’t be bothered to dig out the Cubase floppies and plug in the old PSS 590. I wish I could find those tunes now… but the floppies are all gone now.

You see… I had installed the Command and Conquer game on the PC from some floppies my friend had given me. Floppies that happened to contain a virus that inverted the mouse orientation (down=up etc). My dad decided that the best way to get rid of the virus was to delete the game files… specifically, a file called COMMAND.COM

I had to rescue the computer by backing up all my dad’s files onto floppies in DOS. Which mostly resulted in the loss of whatever was on the floppies beforehand. Including all of my old Quartet and Cubase songs. :-(
What was anyone else’s first experience of using computers to make music?
